Indonesia Leads among the ‘Next Thirty’ Countries

Indonesia and its South East Asian neighbours, led by volumes in Q4 2016, per our latest report available here, on the 'next 30' countries smartphone market, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service. Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines were ranked Second, Third and fourth respectively, while Nigeria retained its fifth position from the previous quarter.

The 30 "new" countries tracked include: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia , Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam.

Samsung dominates majority of these smartphone markets with strong growth recorded for Chinese vendors such as Oppo and Huawei. Local vendors though are challenging the leadership of these global and Chinese counterparts in few of the countries.
