ZTE to Launch the First Character-Based LTE Smartphone for KT in Korea

by Woody Oh | Mar 02, 2017

ZTE, the world's 6th largest smartphone vendor in Q4 2016, has launched the nation's first character-based LTE-capable smartphone, 'Line Friends Smartphone' for KT, the 2nd largest mobile carrier by subscribers in South Korea.

The famous Line characters used for Line mobile messenger, which is one of the frequently-used most popular mobile messengers including WeChat and WhatsApp, will help to enhance ZTE's lower brand awareness in South Korea.

ZTE has launched a couple of smartphones in South Korea for the past few years, but they were all 3G-capable devices, so the first LTE-capable 'Line Friends Smartphone' through one of the major carriers will be casting some new atmosphere to the market, mostly dominated by Samsung, LG and Apple.

The in-detail smartphone vendor dynamics can be identified at this HCST report.
