South Africa and Nigeria Join Tizen OS Smartphones Sales

by Woody Oh | Sep 19, 2016

Tizen-operated smartphones such as Samsung Z1 and Z3 have been only sold in selected Asian Pacific countries including India and Bangladesh so far, but some of African countries, South Africa and Nigeria, are starting to embrace Samsung Z2, another Tizen-powered smartphone supporting 4G LTE network, newly launched very recent month.

Most of African countries are very much Android-dominated in terms of smartphone operating system, but it remains to be seen whether the cost-competitive Tizen devices from Samsung would be able to eat into the established market share taken by Android over the next couple of quarters.

The in-detail smartphone vendor share in South Africa and Nigeria can be viewed here and here, published under Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) service.
