Huawei Focus Online in India

by Rajeev Nair | Mar 31, 2016

Huawei like its Chinese counterparts has now India on its growth radar. The recent traction for its Honor devices has propelled the vendor to launch an online store in the country to sell its smartphones and accessories. It had engaged Flipkart and Amazon to sell its Honor devices in 2015. It has now partnered with Vision Distribution Private Ltd to sell and manage its devices and the Honor customers in India should now be able to directly buy from HiHonor.com.

Online channels have been key to the growth of Smartphones in recent times with the Chinese vendors as the major beneficiaries. Our recent report from Wireless Smartphone Services (WSS), confirms that online channel share accounted for a quarter of the Indian smartphone market in 2015.

The Indian market contribution to the overall Huawei global shipments for smartphones has been less than 2%. The vendor would be keen to replicate its global success in recent times in India too. Our Q4’15 market share report for the country, available here from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) service, ranks Huawei beyond the top 10 vendors in the last quarter of 2015.
