USA Smartphone shipments expand in Q3 2015

by Ken Hyers | Nov 23, 2015

Strategy Analytics' latest Smartphone Vendor Marketshare by Operator report shows smartphone shipments in the United States improved +9% annually in Q3 2015. Growth was driven by Apple, which debuted its new iPhone models, and from new Android flagship smartphones that were introduced in the quarter, while some vendors continued to expand their sales through unlocked channels.

Apple was number one in hardware, while Android captured top spot in software. T Mobile delivered a strong performance, as its smartphone volumes soared to the highest level (for the third quarter) ever. Its UnCarrier strategy is proving relatively successful.

This Handset Country Share Tracker report tracks smartphone shipments, vendor marketshare, and OS marketshare for 20 major brands and 4 major platforms in the United States across 4 top operators and the total market on a quarterly basis from Q1 2011 to Q3 2015. Operators covered include Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint and T Mobile.
