Strategy Analytics has been monitoring ASUS closely, the Taiwanese smartphone specialist, for the recent quarters,
who is quietly inching up its smartphone market share in several South Eastern Asian Countries as well as its home Taiwan market.
According to the recent report,
'Smartphone Vendor Marketshare for "Next 15" Emerging Countries: Q2
2015', published under
Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) service,
ASUS captured no.3 smartphone position in Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam during Q2 2015, largely boosted by its
highly price-competitive smartphones, relatively well-known brand awareness and more focus on open/online distributional channels.
Several Zenfone-branded smartphones have been well received by the price-conscious consumers in those countries who are looking for feature-rich, but price-friendly devices such as Zenfone C in sub-US$100 in wholesale and mass-market Zenfone 2 and Zenfone 5 under US$200 in wholesale.
The report, which is available to our HCST clients, can be viewed
here, and tracks plenty of other locally-focused vendors such as Smartfren in Indonesia, iMobile in Thailand, Cherry Mobile in Philippines and Tecno in Nigeria.
