According to the recently-posted report,
'China Smartphone Vendor and OS Marketshare : Q2 2015', published under our
Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) service,
vivo, one of the fast-rising local smartphone vendors in China has pushed into top 5 smartphone vendors
for the first time in China during Q2 2015.
vivo's sub-brands,
X,
XPlay and XShot series, have quickly ramped up in 4G LTE segment in China since last year,
mostly welcome among younger generation in their 20's and 30's due to its sleek design, decent H/W and S/W quality, adoption of many advanced technologies and
the innovative brand image. Also, while other local Chinese brands are focusing on selling the devices under US$150 in wholesale, this rising vendor is
positioning their major products higher than US$250 in wholesale, which we estimate has generated many vivo fans who are keen to
differentiate themselves with others.
The report, available to our HCST clients, has tracked both shipments and marketshare for handset and smartphone segments for 20 vendors, and also tracked operating systems by quarter in China from Q1 2009 to Q2 2015.
