Honor to take on Samsung on International Markets With New Honor Vs -Series

by Ville-Petteri Ukonaho | Nov 25, 2022

Honor launched their latest foldable devices on Wednesday 23.11.2022. The foldables continue the Magic V series and are booklet type foldables. The portfolio expanded with two new foldables Magic Vs and Magic Vs Ultimate.

Launching only a booklet type foldables is somewhat strange decision given how much better flip foldables are selling compared to booklet types. We do expect Honor to launch a flip type foldable next year.

The devices itself are following the path original Magic V has laid. Both offer full sized front display at 6.45” and FHD+ resolution. Inner display is also similar to previous Magic V at 7.9” and 1984x2272 resolution. Compared to Fold4 that inner display is slightly larger ands outer display offers wider ratio than Samsung’s foldable.

Magic Vs variants are both equipped with Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4 nm) processors and the main differences comes from the amount of memory the devices have. The memory variations also dictate the pricing which is relatively affordable for such a powerhouse.

Magic Vs Ultimate also has support for Magic Pen that resembles the stylus Samsung has for Fold4.

Imaging is well equipped in the devices. Front cameras on the outside and on the inside are both 16Mpix and the main camera setup is built around 54Mpix main camera, 8Mpix telephoto camera and 50Mpix ultrawide camera. Needless to say that the imaging department is well equipped.

Another remarkable feature is the battery. Honor has managed to fit in 5000mAh worth of batteries which is 14% more than what one can find from Fold4. 66W fast charging should top up the battery from 0 to 100% in 46 minutes. The device is also slimmer than Fold4 by few fractions of a millimetre.

One big design difference though is the absence of a gap between the two halves. Honor has managed to design the hinge such way that no visible gap is between the two sides of the foldable. No gap makes the device feel more refined.
