In 23. January, Xiaomi, the worlds third largest (in 4Q20) smartphone vendor, announced a new revolutionary wireless charging method, the Mi Air Charge.
The Mi Air Charge brings charging wirelessly to a whole new level compared to traditional Qi based charging.

The technology is based on millimetre-wide waves that are beamformed from a central charging hub directly to the device using an array of 144 antennas.

The system is capable of providing 5W remote charging which is equivalent to the basic Qi standard based charging. The beauty of the technology is that multiple devices can be charged simultaneously from a distance.
Xiaomi’s vision is a truly cordless world where all devices from smartphones to smart watches, bracelets and other wearable devices will be charged remotely. Also living room devices, including speakers, desk lamps and other low power smart home products will be cord free with built in wireless power supply.
Will our future be entirely cordless? Time will tell, but our clients can be sure we shall bring all the latest innovations to our reports and to our clients awareness.
