Motorola Delays Razr... Again

by Neil Mawston | Dec 23, 2019

Several media reports in recent days suggest Motorola will be delaying the US commercial launch of its new Razr foldable smartphone... again.

Razr was first delayed in summer 2019... It then missed the huge Xmas 2019 holiday season... And now it will miss the high-profile CES tradeshow during early January 2020...

This is bad news for Motorola. Repeated delays and late release indicate the product is in chaos behind the scenes. Display supply or fragility are likely the main problems.

More delays are the last thing Motorola needs right now. The Razr has already been panned for being over-priced and under-specced. Meanwhile, Google Pixel and Alcatel are quietly eating Moto's lunch in its home US market.

We think Motorola Razr will probably launch at the end of January or into February 2020. But its thunder will, by then, have been stolen by noisy CES announcements and MWC pre-launches. Moto Razr is but a blunt knife.
