North American Handset Shipment Volumes in Holding Pattern for Q1 2018

Strategy Analytics' Emerging Device Strategies service has just published the latest results for the North American handset market in the report Vendor Share: North America Handset Vendor Marketshare Q1 2018. Mobile phone shipments declined by less than -1% annually in North America during the first quarter of 2018. This is the 5th consecutive quarter of annual declines in handset shipment volumes  for the market, but the decline in Q1 2018 was relatively muted compared to three of the last five quarters of declines. Apple contributed better than expected volumes in the quarter, while Samsung, which launched its newest flagship, the Galaxy S9 towards the end of Q1, showed healthy growth.Four of the top-5 vendors recorded positive growth for the quarter.
