DJI today unveiled the Mavic Air camera drone. The ultra-portable folding camera drone packs many of the features found in DJI's more expensive Mavic Pro and Pro Platinum portable camera drones, while adding new features too. The Mavic Air, which will go on sale on January 28, 2018, is $200 cheaper than the Mavic Pro, filling in a gap between the more expensive DJI drones and its inexpensive Spark selfie drone ($399).
DJI Mavic Air
The Mavic Air is a hugely capable drone that is incredibly portable, folding up to a size little larger than a phablet. It gives up very little to its more expensive stablemates, the Mavic Pro and Pro Platinum; the major difference is that at half the size of the larger Mavic drones, the Mavic Air has smaller batteries and shorter flight times (21 minutes max). Yet the Mavic Air is faster than the other Mavic drone models from DJI, and has new features like gesture control and upgraded obstacle avoidance. In our view it's likely the perfect drone for travelers and for anyone engaged in outdoor activities.
