VR180, a New Format for Virtual Reality from YouTube and Daydream

A new format is under development for virtual reality consumption inside Google. VR180 halves the viewable area but adds more detail and depth. VR180 cameras from vendors LG, Lenovo, and some Chinese companies will be available in the second half 2017. Google hopes that VR180 will bring more affordable high quality VR cameras to the market to rival existing immersive 360 cameras such as Nokia OZO, Panono and others.
