Honor Challenges Competitors’ Top Smartphones With Budget Priced Honor 6X

by Ville-Petteri Ukonaho | Jan 04, 2017

At CES 2017 Huawei’s Honor brand introduced new smartphone to its US and Europe portfolio. The Honor 6X is aimed squarely at the Millennials segment, offering a broad range of features at a budget price, making it a strong offering for younger consumers. The device has already been launched in China in October but now Huawei adds the device to the global portfolio of popular Honor branded devices.

The key feature of the Honor 6X is its dual lens 12MP + 2MP rear camera with a wide aperture range (F/0.95-F/16) and a host of settings that allow users to manage a range of effects from blurring backgrounds and highlighting foreground images, take time-lapse photos and editing pictures. The ease with which users can manipulate the photos will appeal to social-media savvy users.

The Honor 6X is a dual-SIM smartphone that comes in three colors (gold, silver, grey) with a brushed aluminum back and 5.5” full HD display and features a 3340 mAh high-density battery which promises up to 2 days of normal usage and over a day of heavy usage.  The phone has a 16nm octa-core Kirin 655 processor and 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB of ROM (depending on model). Fingerprint sensor is located in the back under cameras.

The Honor 6X will be available to pre-orders starting January 4, 2017 n US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the Czech Republic, India, Russia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

The official sales start will be January 10th. It will be offered for US$249 for the 3 GB RAM / 32 GB ROM version and $299 for the 4 GB RAM / 64 GB ROM one, making it a top contender for consumers looking for a relatively high-spec device at an affordable price. Like all Honor phones it will be offered via online channels such as Amazon and Huawei's own online marketplace HiHonor.
