North American handset shipments sluggish in Q2'15

by Ken Hyers | Aug 18, 2015

North American handset shipments slowed in the second quarter of 2015 as the traditional spring lull kicked into gear. The introduction of several Android flagship handsets from various vendors were not enough to overcome the typically weaker Q2 iPhone volumes as consumers begin to look forward to new Q3 model introductions.

Mobile phone shipments dipped by 1% annually in North America during the second quarter of 2015. Despite new device launches from several Android vendors, price pressures and anticipation of the next generation iPhone's launch in Q3'15 suppressed demand. While overall growth stuttered, LTE volumes continued to grow, driven by Apple, Samsung, ZTE and others.

This extensive report contains quarterly handset shipments and market share by 2G / 3G / 4G technologies for the top 20 vendors in the USA and Canada from 2004 to Q2 2015. It is a valuable tool for all stakeholders who want to track the influential US and Canada markets.
