IFA was back in-person 2022 at Messe Berlin, after taking three years off due to COVID. Convention organizers reported that more than 2,500 journalists from over 100 countries attended as part of the over 161,000 visitors to the show. This was considered a strong turnout given continued travel restrictions in some Asian countries. We take this as a sign that the industry is open to attend trade shows in person once again.
For years before the pandemic, tech companies made products announcements around the timing of trade shows, and the pandemic has accelerated this trend. Many companies held their own events or launch announcements either right before, or in the weeks after IFA.
