by Ken Hyers | Jul 29, 2022

Global Bluetooth headset sales closed in on 500 million in 2021 and will easily top that mark in 2022.  Double-digit year-on-year growth is being driven by a variety of factors including rapidly falling prices, more vendors offerings Bluetooth headset options the ongoing shift from corded to wireless headsets.  Global sales of Bluetooth headsets will top 1 billion by 2027 as the TWS phenomena continues to gather pace.

BT Headset Sales through 2027

True Wireless Stereo (TWS) Bluetooth headsets are the main category driving Bluetooth headset sales.  The number of TWS vendors continues to grow, but Apple, which popularized the TWS category, is and will remain the category leader for the foreseeable future. While Apple and others focus primarily on the premium end of the TWS category, much of the growth is coming from the entry-level as TWS prices continue to steadily fall.

Bluetooth Stereo headsets are becoming ever more feature packed.  From noise canceling to active noise cancellation (ANC), multi-point connections and spatial audio, to health features such as heart rate sensors, these devices are becoming ever more capable, in the process justifying higher prices at the premium end of the category.

Clients of our Bluetooth Device Tracker (BDT) service can discover who the leading TWS vendors are and track their sales and share, learn which feature categories are driving growth, and find out which geographies are growing fastest in the report Global Bluetooth Headset Sales Forecast up to 2027 found here.
