Entry Becomes the Largest TWS Segment, Premium Most Valuable

  • Entry-tier becomes the biggest during 2022 as Premium-tier suffers momentarily stagnation due geopolitical uncertainty, inflation and looming recession.
  • Premium-tier keeps its position as the most valuable segment.
  • More advanced features are penetrating to lower price points which eats the sales of Premium-tier on the longer run.

  • More competition is arising from the new markets in for example in India. Vendors position themselves directly to Mid- or Entry-tiers.
  • TWS headsets are fast becoming the main replacement for corded in-box headsets.
    The prices of the cheapest basic TWS HS are already well below US$20 (retail) and the Entry-tier is growing fast.
  • Short replacement cycles drive sales. We see that the lower quality of the ultra-low cost TWS, and the easiness of losing the earbuds, cause the replacement cycles in the lower price segments to be short. Replacement cycles lengthen going up in the price segments.
