Report Summary:

Google first announced their augmented reality-based navigation one year ago and did a very soft launch in February of 2019, which they limited to Google’s Local Guides. Now, Google is finally pushing this implementation on their existing mapping application to Pixel phone owners. Through a callout box, brief overview of how it works, core functionality, and the safety measures put in to place, Google has deployed a highly useful and usable AR-based mapping solution which simply exists and is easy to launch for those who want to use it and stays out of the way for users who wish not to.
