In February 2011, four years after the launch of the first iPhone, Strategy Analytics UX research team published a report entitled "Innovative Mobile Experiences Add Value and Support Differentiation". This report examined the disruptive effect of smartphone operating systems and how consumer preferences and attitudes towards mobile technology were increasingly being shaped by offerings that provide innovative user experiences. The report identified three key areas of focus for designers seeking to deliver compelling innovative solutions, namely: Personalization, Context Awareness and Convergence. In February 2021, we look back over a decade of innovation to examine the extent to which these trends did indeed influence product design and, on the basis of this trajectory, we aim to identify the key trends that we believe will shape innovation over the next ten years.
