Report Summary:

Dedicated streaming media devices have become popular amongst consumers as they provide all features and aspects of a smart TV and game console, for a cheaper price. However, as more and more connected devices are released to the market, including STBs, smart TVs, game consoles and streaming media devices, how will consumers choose what they want and what they need in such a device? In the end, manufacturers of streaming media devices must take into consideration all types of media consumers: ‘cord-cutters,’ ‘casual gamers,’ ‘productivity junkies’ and ‘devoted pay TV users,’ in order to provide all critical aspects vital to the media experience on the larger screen. The Nexus Player provided a compelling media experience. Participants found the UI to be simple and user-friendly; the voice search and Google Cast were considered value-added benefits. Overall, 11/12 participants indicated that they would purchase a Nexus Player for themselves, depending on price.
