This report presents the findings of Strategy Analytics’ study investigating the motivations, use cases, and expectations of existing smart home consumers in China. Existing smart security camera owners in China adopted the device due to concerns over home security and the necessity of monitoring children’s activities. While consumers of other types of smart home products such as smart plugs, were mainly driven by personal interest in new technologies. Overall, existing smart home device users were least satisfied with the customizability of their devices, while participants exhibited great interest in health and family care related smart home products.
