Teligens Fixed Broadband Benchmarking highlights the business-residential price divide

Download Report

Report Summary:

This short insight considers some of the results from the recently published OECD Fixed Broadband Price Benchmarking Service from Teligen. Across the 40 countries covered within the service, residential users can expect to pay on average, between USD PPP 29 and USD PPP 43 per month for broadband service, depending on the speed of service required, while businesses will pay from USD PPP 38 and USD PPP 72. This sometimes very high differential can lead small and medium businesses in particular subscribing to residential services for business use. This is in spite of the fact that residential services will not typically offer as good SLAs, and use of these services can be in breach of a providers’ terms and conditions. While the premium of business over residential services is large, there has been a reduction in the gap for lower and medium speed services in particular.
