Wireless service revenue from user-linked subscriptions (excluding M2M) will increase globally by 1.1% in 2018 to reach US$856 billion. 4G will account for 46% of connections and 70% of revenue this year, having overtaken both 2G and 3G subscriptions last year. 5G subscriptions will grow from 5 million in 2019 to 577 million in 2023, boosted by device economies of scale coming from China's early involvement in network deployments.
