Wireless CAPEX Recovery Sustained as Developed Markets Plan 4G Futures

Report Summary:

Wireless CAPEX recovered well in the first half of 2011, closing in on pre-recession levels. Developed markets retain a stronger CAPEX profile as strong mobile broadband and smartphone traffic growth and bringing 4G CAPEX on line limited their ability to cut spending during the recession. Developing markets made deeper CAPEX cuts but the strong growth in non-messaging data revenues from the mobile broadband and smartphone boom and improving macro-economic climate have given operators greater encouragement to invest. They have yet to climb out of the slump entirely, but are on a strong footing for renewed growth.
