Las Vegas has seen its share of famous fights, and this week at the International CES 2014 heavy weight defending champion AT&T (which shares the title with Verizon Wireless) dukes it out with mid-weight challengers T-Mobile US and Sprint in the battle for the family plan. New T-Mobile US UnCarrier 4.0 announcements include incentives to get competitors’ family plan subscribers to switch by offering to pay off their early termination fees (ETF) and pay fair market value for handset trade-ins, and Sprint launched new “Framily” plans for friends and family. However, a recent Strategy Analytics survey shows family plan subscribers have a low propensity to churn, so the battle for T-Mobile and Sprint will be uphill.
