Report Summary:

This interactive database summarizes quarterly subscriber growth trends for over 75 major broadband service providers (BSPs) operating across Europe. At the end of the third quarter of 2010, these service providers delivered broadband service to roughly 110 million customers – representing approximately 73% of the total broadband installed base in the region. While European broadband continues to grow, its rate of expansion is decelerating. Service providers added 2.7 million residential broadband subscribers in Europe in the third quarter of 2010, compared to 3.9 million in the same quarter last year. The total European region now stands at 150 million broadband subscribers. Our European "Top 10" list remained unchanged this quarter; Deutsche Telekom holds on to the number one position in the European residential broadband market, adding 83,000 net new subscribers in the quarter. This represents the second quarter in a row of declining net adds for the operator. France Telecom closely follows, posting a total of 13.3 million subscribers at the end of the third quarter. In addition to tracking subscribers, market shares and selected financial metrics, the report also provides operator-level subscriber forecasts for 2010. The report also contains a flat file of all data, allowing clients to create customized pivot tables. MMD clients can use this database to analyze subscriber growth from Q4 2008 to Q3 2010 for each company, as well as to sort subscriber data by country and access platform.
