Report Summary:

This interactive database summarizes quarterly subscriber growth trends for over 75 major Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) operating across Europe. At the end of 2010, these operators delivered broadband service to nearly 111 million customers – representing approximately 72% of the total broadband installed base in the region.

The European region finished the year with 153 million broadband subscribers, having added 12.1 million over the course of 2010. Deutsche Telekom continues to lead Europe in terms of total subscribers, though fewer than 500,000 subscribers sit between them and #2 Service Provider, France Telecom. Vodafone led the pack in new subscriptions for the fourth quarter, adding 241,000.

2010 was a year of stepped-up M&A in the European broadband market, with five of the BSPs tracked by Strategy Analytics either acquired or taken private over the course of the year.

In addition to tracking subscribers, market shares and selected financial metrics, the report also provides operator-level subscriber forecasts for 2011. The report also contains a flat file of all data, allowing clients to create customized pivot tables. MMD clients can use this database to analyze subscriber growth from Q4 2008 to Q4 2010 for each company, as well as to sort subscriber data by country and access platform.
