Strategy Analytics forecasts wireless service revenue will fall 2.3% in 2020 and only return to growth in 2024. 5G will have grown to 50% of subscriptions by this point as post-pandemic smartphone upgrade activity returns. While T-Mobile consolidates its position as the new number 2 carrier, its rivals will need to carefully monitor the competitive threat of the cable MSOs and Dish Networks.
