Report Summary:

The downward trend in Pay TV in North America has continued into the third quarter of 2014, with overall subscriber losses for the tracked operators reaching 150,000. This marks the second quarter in a row where tracked subscribers have declined, and most of the subscriber gains that we saw from the third quarter of 2013 through the second quarter of 2014 have been wiped out. Digital subscriptions have continued to increase as cable operators move forward on transitions and IPTV vendors have continued to grow their subscriber bases. In the US, satellite operators DirecTV and Dish both showed subscriber losses for the 3Q14 period, continuing the trend from the second quarter. The bright spot for Pay TV has continued to come from the IPTV operators. This interactive database summarizes quarterly subscriber growth trends for the 26 leading Digital Pay TV Operators operating in the United States and Canada, comprising 96% of the North American digital market and 93% of the total North American market. In addition to tracking subscribers, market shares, and selected financial metrics, the report also provides operator-level subscriber forecasts and overall market forecasts for the year 2014. The report also contains a flat file of all data, allowing clients to create customized pivot tables.
