Western Europe shipments of Connected TV Devices fell by 8% year-over-year in Q3 2021 to 12.35 million units. Smart TV shipments declined by 20% as unfavorable comparisons with the record breaking demand levels of Q3 2020 were accentuated by rising TV retail prices. Shipments of streaming media players also fell by 2% while game console demand was strong at +20% as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S growth was more than enough to offset the decline in Nintendo Switch sales. The overall installed base of connected TV devices reached 249.1 million units by the end of the quarter and the smart TV share of the base increased slightly to 59%. From a streaming platform perspective, Tizen just managed to maintain its position as the leading OS shipped in Q3 closely followed by Fire TV and Android TV.
