The high demand for connected TV devices was sustained into Q1 2021 as pandemic constrained consumers continue to invest in streaming video and entertainment products. Global shipments for connected tv devices grew by 24% year-over-year in the quarter to reach a record Q1 total of 68.26 million units. Favorable comparisons over a weak Q1 2020 were also a factor behind the spectacular growth in the quarter. Game consoles were the standout performer in the quarter as shipments more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Demand for Smart TVs and Digital Media Streamers also grew significantly during the quarter as consumers continue to gravitate to these devices for the video streaming needs. The overall global installed base of connected TV devices has now reached in excess of 1.3 billion units.
