Report Summary:

The top app developers are undoubtedly the major games developers, and 2011 was another bumper year. The top seven games developers and publishers (EA, Gameloft, Capcom, Glu, Gamevil, Com2Us and THQ) hit revenues of over $600M in 2011, despite the total market share of these companies declining to just over 10% of the total mobile games market. 2012 looks like being a bumper year with the revenues from a record first quarter alone topping $226M. The latest set of results also shines a light onto the success of new business models based around lifetime value of a customer, with revenues increasingly derived from in-app purchases made by an engaged user base.
