Handset Vendors Content And Service Strategy Sony Mobile
After buying out Ericsson’s stake in the Sony Ericsson joint-venture, Sony Mobile has streamlined its smartphone business to focus on the premium sector, with mixed successes. To improve the handset sector’s performance, Sony Mobile should consider enriching its content and service offerings by riding on the superb assets of the Sony conglomerate, such as music and film. With competitors like Samsung, Apple, Microsoft and the Chinese smartphone makers differentiating their devices with content and services, Sony Mobile may run the danger of not meeting table stakes requirements if it does not improve its added values on top of the devices.
