Apple announced new maps on Friday, Jan. 30, designed to deliver better road coverage and pedestrian data, more precise addresses, and detailed land cover.  From an automotive perspective, the Apple decision has almost no immediate impact given the fact that Apple maps only manifest in cars via users’ smartphones or via Apple CarPlay.  At the same time, though, Apple has been enhancing its maps with elements useful to car drivers.
