Orange is entering financial services through acquisition of a 65% stake of Groupama Banque and its rebranding to Orange Bank in January 2017. Consumers are using their phones to access bank services increasingly, creating potential for disruption. Strategy Analytics believes Orange will meet its target of 2 M customers, and its €400 M income goal by 2018 as it leverages its significant customer base. However, without a clear USP, or sustainable competitive advantage we also expect taking share from established banks, which are also investing in addressing mobile usage, will provide a challenge to rapid growth.
