Strategy Analytics survey of our AppOptix Telemetry panel of Android smartphone owners in India in Q1, 2017 reveals strong consideration for Xiaomi in the next purchase cycle while reinforcing the dominance of online channels. 26% of potential Android buyers list Xiaomi as their preferred next brand while the aspirational opportunity for Apple is evident at 12% on a par with Samsung. Online channels are preferred by 73% while Network speed 84% and Processor speed 81% outstripped camera, screen size and resolution as purchase drivers. The premium segment of demand (above Rs. 35k) accounts for 6% of potential buyers with an additional 1/5 willing to spend between Rs. 20k and Rs. 35K on their next device.
