The AppOptix Quarterly App Brief summarizes the use of mobile applications on
smartphones and examines key apps that are driving data consumption. Key app categories, including gaming, social media, and entertainment - all key drivers of data use - are explored in this summary report in addition to other app categories. From an expanded
grouping of 17 app categories tracked by AppOptix 8 showed increases in use QoQ,
highlighting both the cyclical nature of apps and continuing our broader observation that
overall smartphone use in terms of total engagement is experiencing some levelling-off after several years of double digit growth.
