Appearing alongside Google Cardboard were new platforms Google Daydream, Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR and SteamVR (i.e. HTC Vive, although more vendors will join this platform in 2017). In 2016, Google Cardboard was the leading platform by shipments and installed base, but Samsung's Gear VR took #1 spot by revenues.
