Report Summary:

Social networking reached over 60 per cent of the world’s online population in 2010 surpassing one billion users across the globe. While Facebook remain the top global social network with over 800 million active users other niche SNS players, including the career oriented Linkedin, real time networking operator Twitter, and some increasingly significant territorially focused SNSs have quickly attracted users. In many territories social networking boasts the highest levels of online engagement and revenue growth has been commensurate with this trend. Social networks have not only changed the way people communicate and consume media but also spurred internet adoption in many parts of the world; and as broadband penetration increases globally, we expect to see user engagement increase, driving even higher levels of spending on SNS advertising and consumer facing services.
