Legacy Pay TV Providers Lose 3.66M Subscribers in 2017

While legacy pay TV providers (cable, satellite, and IPTV) in the U.S. have seen their subscriber base slowly erode over the past three years, 2017 was particularly painful as legacy pay TV providers in the U.S. lost nearly as many subscribers (3.66M) than they did in the prior two years combined (3.92M). The lone bright spot in the pay TV market was vMVPDS, a segment of the market that did not exist until 2015, added 2.92M subscribers.
