Report Summary:

Comcast and Netflix have announced an agreement which enhances the interconnection for the OTT service to the broadband service provider. The two companies have been working on the enhancements for several months, with the designed outcome to deliver a better user experience for Comcast customers streaming content from the Netflix service. Despite many media reports touting the hot button of net neutrality, the deal between the two companies is not giving preferential treatment to Netflix streams. This deal is instead related to the peering and interconnections within the network, bringing the content closer to the customer in a similar fashion to other Content Delivery Networks (CDN) like Akamai and Limelight Networks.
