While Disney+ has not yet launched in the Asia Pacific region, that is not due to begin happening until March 2020, SVOD services in the region still added a little over 93 million new subscribers in 2019 to reach nearly 424 million subscriptions in the region. While Chinese SVOD services dominate SVOD subscription in the region, accounting for 72% of total SVOD subscription in the Asia Pacific region, their influence is minimal at best outside of China. Though that is starting to slowly change as Chinese SVOD services such as Tencent Video start to expand beyond China's borders. If Chinese SVOD services manage to have success outside of China then Netflix position as the largest SVOD service globally could be threatened. By 2025, the total number of SVOD subscriptions in the region will grow to nearly 753 million.
This report provides detailed subscriber and revenue forecasts by SVOD service for the Asia Pacific region. In addition to total SVOD HHs, subscriptions and revenues, individual SVOD services covered include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and other regional SVOD services.
