Report Summary:

Transactional OTT video (EST, Rental) is growing but now seems unlikely to meaningfully compensate for the decline of the physical disc market within the next five years. While we anticipate significant growth spurts in developing markets growth is likely to flatten over the next five years in maturing markets in Western Europe and North America.

Given increasing levels of usage driven by free to view catch-up TV services, we expect advertising supported OTT to grow strongly as it takes a central role in the monetisation of OTT services. In the context of strong overall online advertising growth, spending on in-stream OTT video advertising is likely to take a larger share of brand spending to 2016 as usage levels of long-form video continue to grow. We expect OTT video advertising to significantly grow its share of online advertising spending across all markets to 2016 and beyond.
