Strategy Analytics' Digital Advertising Index (DAI), formerly known as Online Advertising Index (OAI) analyses quarterly revenue growth trends for leading digital advertising companies and measures growth for the digital advertising sector as a whole (online and mobile). Digital advertising index (DAI) in Q1 2014 was down by 2.2 per cent from Q4 2013, but improved 22.4 per cent from Q1 2013, with revenues from index companies totaling $24.5 billion, equal to a 261 per cent increase from the index base period Q4 2006. Twelve companies managed to beat year over year index growth of 22.4 per cent. Twitter, Qihoo, Facebook, Baidu and Sohu lead the index growth signaling continued growth in social networking advertising space as well as continued progress in digital advertising environment in China. On a trailing twelve months (TTM) basis the Digital Advertising Index (DAI) improved 5.1 per cent over Q4 2013, equal to a 295 per cent increase from the index base period Q4 2006. Thirteen companies managed to beat the 20.6 per cent year-over-year TTM index growth. In terms of total online advertising market share by revenue, on a TTM basis, Google continues to lead with 39.4 per cent market share followed by Facebook positioned in second accounting for 6 per cent, and Baidu in third position accounting for 4.3 per cent market share. We have added Ren Ren and Twitter to Digital Advertising Index (DAI), deepening our coverage of the World’s leading digital advertising companies; and as of Q1 2014 we track 31 digital advertising companies. The companies included in the OAI are: AOL, Axel Springer Digital Media, Baidu, Blinkx, CBS Interactive, Daum, Facebook, Google, IAC/InterActiveCorp, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Monster, Naver (formerly NHN) Netease, New York Times, Pandora, Qihoo, Rediff, Ren Ren, Schibsted Online, Sina, Sohu, Tencent, TripAdvisor, Twitter, Conversant (formerly ValueClick), Yahoo!, Yahoo! Japan, Yandex, Youku Tudou, and Zynga.
