By year-end 2016, North American advertising revenues will surpass the $200 billion mark and by year-end 2018 we expect them to total $218.9 billion, a 5-year CAGR of 2.7%. Television continues to be the single largest contributor to North American advertising revenues, accounting for 42% of ad revenues in 2014. Digital advertising, however, is closing the gap, accounting for 26% of ad revenues in 2014. By 2018, television advertising's share of North American advertising revenue will have fallen to 39% while digital advertising will have grown to 36%. This forecast sizes and forecasts North America advertising spending to 2018. The key territories covered in this forecast are Canada and the United States.
