Report Summary:

Naturally enough, higher income households tend to own more technology products than lower income households, but there is considerable variation in ownership of different devices across income groups. TVs and mobile phones have become necessities, while Apple’s iPhone, iPad and other devices in particular demonstrate sharp variations in ownership by income. As an example, more than 55% of $150k+ households own an iPhone compared to 13% of sub-$15k households. This Bulletin examines ownership by income group of a range of consumer electronics, including HDTV, games consoles, Blu-ray Disc, computers, personal electronics and tablets.
