Report Summary:
Facebook’s leadership in social networking shows no sign of waning. It had between three and six times as many frequent users as the next most popular network, Twitter, in each of the five countries included in our survey. Around half the population uses Facebook daily in three countries (US, UK, Italy), and over a third in France and Germany. In contrast to Twitter, however, Facebook’s user base is weighted towards females, and the female bias increased during 2012. And unlike Twitter, Facebook is still primarily accessed via computers, although the importance of tablets and phones is increasing. This Bulletin presents selected survey findings related to users of Facebook based on a survey of more than 6500 respondents in the US, France, Germany, Italy and the UK.
