Report Summary:

Cloud media and digital locker services, which allow consumers to store their content online and stream it to connected devices, are not a new phenomenon but they have multiplied in number in recent years. 15% of US respondents have used one of these services during the past week and nearly half at least once during the past year. The leading service not surprisingly is Apple’s iTunes Match/iCloud but alternatives such as Amazon Cloud, Google Music and Dropbox also have significant numbers of users. The services also have important differences in demographic profile. This Bulletin presents the results of a survey of more than 2000 respondents and covers Apple iTunes Match/iCloud, Amazon Cloud, Google Music, Dropbox, Ultraviolet, LG Cloud, Samsung Music Hub, OnLive and Gaikai.
