In November, BlackBerry launched BES12, its latest Enterprise Mobility Management solution. This has a number of enhancements over BES10, but most notably is likely to appeal to corporate customers wishing to manage both BB7 and BB10 devices simultaneously as well as those on other OS platforms. BlackBerry also claims that new traction is being gained via its new collaboration with Samsung Knox, announced on 13th November, whereby Samsung uses chip-level security components in Android handsets and BlackBerry provides the BES12 EMM solution. Other new BlackBerry initiatives include ‘Identity and Access’ capabilities and enhanced ‘Communication and Collaboration’ tools. Even so, SA perceives that future differentiation will still require BlackBerry to make the most of unique USPs from the combination of its EMM, devices and messaging services ecosystem, and this may require the strategy to evolve further over the medium term.
